2013

Soo.. I believe it has been over two months since I last blogged...and I have only posted twice. Shame, shame; I know. But I am back! So, I plan on filling you in on my personal life, and providing a mini drugstore palette review! Ya know, to warm back up ;)

Welp, I Survived...
The first quarter at the university! Yup, four A's... I feel accomplished and stress free- for the moment. I go back January 7th and am a little nervous but definitely more confident than when I first began.

These past two months generally consisted of hanging out with my close friends, and family; Jackie, Rikki, and Leo mostly. Oh yea, how could i forget! I FINALLY turned eighteen on December 7th! All of my friends are above 18, and have been "waiting" for this day for a very long time! haha Tell me why it has been over three weeks, and we still have not gone to a club!? Oh well, I am fortunate and greatful to have the friends that I do, we spent the rest of my good friend "OG Beans' " 21st birthday night together, into the beginning of my birthday morning. It was...embarrassing to say the least, but we enjoyed it!

-My baby brother David turned thirteen on December 10th, which caused a great deal of sadness just thinking how much he has grown, and the thought that my baby sister Kayla is soon to be seventeen.

-Daniel (aka "My Joshie") turned 21 on Christmas Eve! I have not seen him in a while but I decided to include him in this post to show that he is in mind :)

-I also survived Christmas~ I last minute shopped and got gifts for my grandma, two of my sisters, and one of my little brothers; the lines were so hectic. I shopped around the 22nd; Boy, did I learn my lesson! I thought school would have taught me to stop procrastinating, lol! Anyways, I got some really great gifts that I am more than thankful for and should be included in upcoming reviews. They will pretty much be products that I love, obviously, so you will get more description/swatch posts  haha, the gifts are secret and will be posted randomly! I gained four "members" which truly makes me smile. I hope you all enjoy my blog, and follow me along for the ride! Now for the review, finally...

*Notice the quality is much better than my previous post ;) Thank the iPhone 4 to iPhone 5 Upgrade! I still am setting up a station with proper lighting in order for me to show perfect colour, but this is doing the job so far!**

Blue Had Me At Hello Palette

Wet'N'Wild Color Icon "737 Blue Had Me At Hello" Eyeshadow Palette
Purchased this for $5.29 at Walgreens- although that is still fairly cheap I have heard of others purchasing it for less. Anywho, let's get started..

The Palette:
Anywho, this includes eight different shades, in my personal opinion i would only consider the deep black one to the left matte. This is at first glance, the rest seem to have shimmer and have a satin finish. It also comes with a tiny eyeshadow application sponge/ angled applicator brush on a double sided wand.

The Packaging: Nothing too special. More than I expected for the price, however. I like how the clear plastic top case is thick, I feel if it were thinner it would be flimsy and break easily. There is no fabulous design- simply the Wet n Wild logo engraved on a clear case, that attaches to a plastic black bottom.

  First two shades (upper left):
1)The first one somewhat disappointed me. It was so sheer, and there was a good amount of glitter fallout. I thought that it the cause of this would be the little brush that they provided- but it came out the same regardless of what I used. It would be good as a highlight on the brow bone as stated, or on the inner eye near the tear duct- but not something to put on the actual lid.

2) This colour actually surprised me! I thought that it was going to be very sheer due to my experience with the first shade that I tested, but it was the opposite! The colour surprised me- it looks like it only has a very slight light blue undertone- but once swatched it looks very much like a frosted white with peeks of silver and blue. Very pigmented.

Next two shades (bottom left):
3) This colour disappointed me! I mean, it looks so beautiful in the pan, like there would be an abundance of blue sparkle in the shadow. However, when swatched, it seemed like mostly semi- matte black, with a few deep blue sparkles thrown in. These sparkles WILL fallout The black is not too pigmented and could be considered somewhat sheer. A very good primer would be necessary, and the eyeshadow would have to be applied and layered multiple times.

4) This is a matte black. There is nothing too special- it is not amazingly pigmented- but not horrible. A base (primer) will be needed- it fades easily.

Two shades (top right):
5)This is pretty much an icy blue- I have heard many say that this shade has good pigmentation, maybe I got a bad batch- but I had to layer a lot. It is a lovely frosted colour- i could not picture myself putting on such a blue to my brow bone, however. Maybe near the tear duct.

6) This is definitely my favorite shade of the palette! Such a pretty teal, or aqua if you must. Gold peaks through this shade- it gives it a really nice sheen and is an even nicer addition to the colour. This is what made me truly not regret purchasing the palette.

Last two shades (bottom right):
7) Another shade that has made me feel satisfied! Such a pretty midnight blue, a little too dark to be royal, too light to call it a navy imo. It packs a punch with pigmentation- however, I was horrified to find a piece of hair in it! I photographed the lower two shades on the left and noticed a hair on the photo. I reached to pull it off and it came straight from this eyeshadow! What the heck WnW!

8) A semi matte black eyeshadow with silver sparkle. This is extremely similar to the blue sparkled one. I feel like this one actually has more sparkle though and is more pigmented in comparison. Maybe it was the batch I got. This will have to be handled similarly, packed on and with a very sticky base. This fades very easily.

Overall: This palette had a very good price tag. There were some colours that I really loved and could see myself working with, and some that I just did not care for. I would only recommend this palette to those on a budget, looking for a few good eyeshadows. Do not get me wrong, some of these shadows beat out name brands as far as pigmentation and quality- but not all of them. I think this is a great deal, and really look forward to the midnight blue and aqua shades. I kind of freaked out about the hair incident, I am a germaphobe it was like a nightmare, haha! But I could envision some cute looks with this. Sometimes sheer and unpigmented ones could be worked around by wetting the brush- I have yet to try that. I also encourage primer with all of these- the wear time does not seem to be long and they are prone to fade. No regrets with this purchase and hope others would try it, let me know what you think about this palette!

HAPPY NEW YEARS LOVE BUGS!
Everyone has asked me what I am going to change about this New Year, I always replied "nothing" because I really did not know. Of course, more followers would motivate me, so join me with your opinions and questions and I would be glad to oblige! Constructive criticism is key. Thank you for reading! Stay tuned!
